To work with the cramped space of 72 sqf, Kim Lewis, an Austin designer of this project tries her best by stretching the space with the ingenious ideas and strategies. She starts with the storage with in-plant-sight. The open shelving of copper-pipe has additional hooks that can be used to hang the cookware and some mugs. The storage has kept the counter from clutter look. She also adds some greenery on pots on the top part of the open storage. The spaces of the window frame are also adorned by the placement of some beautiful greenery on pots. One of the tree beams in this culinary space is used to hang a stunning pendant light, precisely the middle beam. The lighting fixture is so elegant with black lampshade that frames the bulb in the middle. The dining area is illuminated by the light in an elegant way. Some wheels are added on the legs of the dining table, thus the homeowner will ease in moving it. Don’t forget to add bar stools to complete the look of the dining table.
Frances Merrill allowed the existing countertops in an Oaji home together with the Viking range in white. The base cabinets have a more relaxed feel with the addition of new doors which are painted in Duxbury Gray of Benjamin Moore. She chose terra-cotta tiles with hexagonal shape for the floor installation. The brownish shade of the floor which has glossy surface displays a harmonious color with the stools. She also added reclaimed wood open shelves to the décor. The shelves are mounted over the sinks countertop. They are arranged in a neat way with 3 arrays toward the top. The counter stools that complete the display of the island are from CB2 which have leather tone. The color of the stools reflect the decision in focusing on the charm of natural materials.
The windows in this kitchen obviously emit the nautical accent to the kitchen décor. The windows set of an authentic porthole is installed in Jute glass tile of Ann Sacks. The windows decorate the look of the tile backsplash in this kitchen in a stylish way. At the upper part of the window, a wall mounted cabinet is added to utilize the empty space on the wall. The white cabinet is used to store some glasses, cups, plates and other kitchen utensils. The counter is in Honed granite which has a dark surface. The choice of dark shade for the countertop offers you a benefit i.e. to avoid dirt look in your kitchen. To prettify the final look of your culinary space, don’t forget to add flowers to a pot. You can place it in the corner spot under the cabinet.
